Mailchimp vs AgentsMail: pricing, features and verdict

Mailchimp vs AgentsMail comes down to how you work. Mailchimp is the better pick if your team designs emails visually and wants hundreds of integrations. AgentsMail is the better pick if an AI agent runs your email marketing and you want more contacts for less money: its Free plan covers 10,000 contacts, against 250 on Mailchimp Free.

Updated on 2026-10-03. Mailchimp prices are in USD from its official pricing page on that date; AgentsMail prices are in EUR.

Mailchimp pricing explained

Mailchimp has four marketing plans. On the date of this comparison, its pricing page shows:
Mailchimp planDisplayed priceMonthly sendsSeatsAutomation
Free$0500 (250/day), 250 contacts max1Not included
Essentialsfrom $13/month10× your contact limit3Flows up to 4 steps
Standardfrom $20/month12× your contact limit5Up to 200 steps, generative AI
Premiumfrom $350/month15× your contact limitUnlimitedUp to 200 steps, phone support
Two details matter more than the headline numbers. First, these prices are labelled as 50% off for the first 12 months, after which Mailchimp charges "the then-currently monthly list price based on your contacts and email sends". Second, the price is set by your contact tier, so growing your list moves you up a tier; overages apply when you exceed the contact or send limit.
How to compare fairly
Simulate your own list size on Mailchimp's pricing page, then look at the price in month 13, not month 1. That is the number you will pay for years.

AgentsMail pricing

AgentsMail planPriceEmails / monthContactsSequences
Free€03,00010,0002
Pro€19/month50,00050,00010
Enterprise€200/month500,000UnlimitedUnlimited
API calls are never billed separately. Free includes one sending domain and Pro three. Enterprise adds multi-organization, SSO/SAML, an audit log and a 99.95% SLA. When a campaign needs more emails than your balance holds, the refusal screen shows the exact shortfall and, on plans where it is available, offers to buy just that; purchased emails do not expire at the end of the month.

Criterion by criterion

Free plan

AgentsMail's Free plan holds 40 times more contacts (10,000 vs 250) and six times more monthly emails (3,000 vs 500). Mailchimp Free includes email support for the first 30 days only and no automation flows. Edge: AgentsMail.

Email editor and templates

Mailchimp's drag-and-drop builder is one of the best on the market, with a large template library. AgentsMail templates are HTML files: you or your agent can paste any design, and editable zones let a teammate rewrite the copy of each block without touching the layout. AgentsMail also converts common Mailchimp merge tags (*|FNAME|*, *|UNSUB|*…) on import. Edge: Mailchimp for visual teams, AgentsMail for code-friendly or agent-written templates.

Automation

Mailchimp gates automation by tier: Essentials flows stop at 4 steps, Standard and Premium allow up to 200 steps with branching. AgentsMail sequences start when a contact joins a list or receives a tag, and walk steps such as send, wait, add or remove a tag, call a webhook or stop. Published versions are frozen, so editing never disrupts contacts already on the journey. Series cover the other case: dated steps sent to a whole audience, such as a product launch. Edge: Mailchimp on branching depth, AgentsMail on price per automation.

AI and agents

This is where the two products differ most. Mailchimp includes generative AI on Standard and Premium, and offers a Claude connector that Mailchimp itself describes as a planning tool: you then "move into your Mailchimp account to finalize and send your campaign". AgentsMail is built so the agent does the work end to end, with you approving each real send.
  1. Ask Claude, through the connector, for a campaign plan.
  2. Open Mailchimp.
  3. Build the email in the editor, pick the audience, schedule it.
  4. Come back to Claude to discuss the results.
  1. Ask your agent for the campaign. It checks readiness, then creates the draft.
  2. It renders the email and sends you a test.
  3. You approve; the agent schedules the send.
  4. It reads the statistics and proposes the next campaign.
POST /api/v1/campaigns/{campaignId}/send
x-api-key: <your key>
Content-Type: application/json

{"scheduledAt": "2026-10-21T09:00:00+02:00"}
Sending through the API is not open on every AgentsMail account yet; when it is not, the agent prepares everything and you press send in the interface. Edge: AgentsMail. Our AI agent email marketing guide covers the setup.

Deliverability and safeguards

Both products handle bounces, complaints and unsubscribes. AgentsMail adds guardrails meant for an agent that can make mistakes: a readiness check (GET /api/v1/me) that lists blockers before any work, a named reason for every refused send, a mandatory unsubscribe link checked at render time, an automatic suppression list no import can bypass, and imports that never send anything. Sending domains need DKIM plus an ownership proof before mass sending is allowed. Edge: AgentsMail for agent-run accounts; both are solid for manual use. The DNS side is covered in good email deliverability.

Integrations and ecosystem

Mailchimp connects natively to hundreds of tools, from e-commerce platforms to CRMs. AgentsMail relies on its API and on webhook steps inside sequences; your agent writes the glue when needed. Edge: Mailchimp.

Reporting

Mailchimp Standard and Premium add custom reports and A/B testing. AgentsMail reports delivery, unique opens and clicks, unsubscribes, clicks per link and activity over time, readable on screen or through GET /api/v1/campaigns/{campaignId}/stats. Edge: Mailchimp for marketing teams that need A/B testing.

Verdict: Mailchimp or AgentsMail?

01Choose Mailchimp if your team builds emails visually, needs A/B tests and native integrations, and accepts contact-based pricing.
02Choose AgentsMail if an AI agent runs your email marketing and you want a safe, refusal-first workflow.
03On price, AgentsMail's Free plan covers 10,000 contacts, and Pro gives 50,000 contacts and 50,000 emails for €19 a month.
04Migrating is a CSV per status plus automatic merge-tag conversion; consent proof comes along.

FAQ

How much does Mailchimp cost per month?

On 2026-10-03, Mailchimp's pricing page shows Essentials from $13, Standard from $20 and Premium from $350 per month, as a 50% introductory discount for 12 months. After that, the list price depends on your number of contacts and sends. The Free plan stays at $0 for up to 250 contacts.

Is AgentsMail cheaper than Mailchimp?

For most lists, yes: AgentsMail's Free plan covers 10,000 contacts, and Pro costs €19 a month for 50,000 contacts and 50,000 emails. API calls are never billed separately. Compare with Mailchimp's price at your own contact tier after the introductory year.

Can I use Mailchimp with an AI agent?

Partly. Mailchimp's Claude connector helps plan campaigns from your data, and its Marketing API can be called by developers. AgentsMail is designed so the agent creates, tests, schedules and measures campaigns itself, with your approval on each send.

Does AgentsMail have A/B testing like Mailchimp?

A/B testing is not described in AgentsMail's documentation. If split testing is central to your process, Mailchimp Standard or Premium covers it today.
